USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

The wiki and forum posts are ancient.

ADI and joydev modules are running.

lsusb:

Bus 003 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. Integrated Rate Matching Hub

Bus 004 Device 003: ID 147e:1002 Upek Biometric Touchchip/Touchstrip Fingerprint Sensor
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 5986:0512 Acer, Inc

no joystick.

KDE says

"No joystick device automatically found on this computer.
Checks were done in /dev/js[0-4] and /dev/input/js[0-4]
If you know that there is one attached, please enter the correct device file."

No "js" anything in /dev/. Nor in /dev/input/

I don't have xf86-joystick.....bla bla installed but I tried with it earlier today..

Any more info needed to get some help with this? Its a simple dual analog joystick..

Thanks

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

Maybe we can take a look at how the kernel handles it.  Can you post the last lines of dmesg when you plug it in?

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

I think this link may have something for you:
http://forums.logitech.com/t5/PC-Gaming … d-p/338606

Maybe also http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=338457 , in the manual section?  You should see if you need certain modules loaded in order for it to work - at the bottom of the post in the second link..

(also, does anyone know why there's a USB disconnect at the end of that dmesg?)

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

The disconnect weirded me out too. I happen to run a virtual machine once when my gamepad was plugged in and in the usb devices it was there.... After a few minutes it disappeared... Like its being rejected some how. lol

Thanks for the link, I've found that one before but ignored it because jscal isn't even in the AUR..... I installed rejoystick from the AUR though, and got "error occured: Failed to open joystick device. Exiting..." I think I need jscal. And yes the output is spelled wrong. >.<

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

Bump?

Still can't get this thing working... Is there a systemctl command or something that will force these modules to run? Nothing detects my joystick, /dev/input/js0 isn't even being created.....

Thanks

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

my apologies.  I think I'm running out of ideas, but do you have jscal?

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

I was hoping more people would jump in actually, though I appreciate you sticking around. smile

I do have jscal, it comes with joyutils from the AUR [https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/joyutils/]

So ya I've had it this whole time. Just for giggles I plugged in my old off brand xbox 360 controller that I have used in Arch many moons ago and got the same results.

I remember all I used to need was the xorg joystick driver, and joyutils... I would often use qjoykey just to help with mapping issues but not even that will detect any controllers now...

Gotta love that now that games are getting more linux love, we can't get controllers to work.. lol

Re: USB Logitech gamepad [SOLVED]

Well, Solved.... I installed xf86-input-joystick     ........... I have had this installed before and the controller did not work. I installed it again, and now have qjoypad. It just works. lol
