Recently installed Icedtea to run some java apps for an online college class. However, it isn't workign at all.
This is under Chromium.
IIRC I have all the stuff I need installed:

I am having the same problem, except I am using google-chrome. I also tried firefox. I can't find any site where a java applet will load, including http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php and http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre.

Any java applet not work.

Same here. With firefox as well.

Same here on i686. No java working in any browser after latest update to jdk7-openjdk 7.u40_2.4.1-1 and jre7-openjdk 7.u40_2.4.1-1.
I have the same stuff installed as ratdude747 in the first post.

Some Arch user filed a bug report upstream, so there's nothing left to do but wait.
Offline
There's one only thing left to do, downgrade to jdk7-openjdk 7.?25. When a new release will come then try the upgrade

Experiencing the same thing here. Tried downgrading down to 2.3.9-4 and did the same with iced-tea-web but with no luck. I think I'll just await an upstream fix..
Offline
Downgrading jdk7-openjdk, jre7-openjdk and jre7-openjdk-headless to version 7.u40_2.4.0-1 fixes the issue for me. Atleast with Firefox. Chromium seems OK too. Java still crashes in Opera.

I meant /jdk7-openjdk-7.u21_2.3.9-4, I don't know is the same as referred here above.

I meant /jdk7-openjdk-7.u21_2.3.9-4, I don't know is the same as referred here above.
I referred to the previous Arch Linux package versions of the named packages, 7.u40_2.4.0-1, released on 2013-06-10, as found on Arch Linux Rollback Machine.
You are referring to version 7.u21_2.3.9-4, the previous version before the previous version.... released 2013-05-20. As downgrading from 7.u40_2.4.1-1 to 7.u40_2.4.0-1 fixed the issue for me I did not test any yet older versions....
So, using latest icedtea-web-java7 1.4-1, java works in Firefox (and more) with previous Arch packages, version 7.u40_2.4.0-1,. on my i686 system atleast....

Your information is better than mine and taken for good, of course ![]()
Mine was just someone else report, not my direct test.

Mine was just someone else report, not my direct test.
I can only vouch for the results on my i686 system with the couple of browsers and couple of java apps I did try, your mileage may vary......
However one thing was clear, with the latest packages of openjdk, version 7.u40_2.4.1-1, everything was dead, none of the browsers could even detect java on the system....
Let's hope upstream can fix this soon. Until then I've frozen version 7.u40_2.4.0-1 of the openjdk packages by putting them on hold in pacman.conf. Works for my needs. However, others might need to downgrade to even older versions for their needs, what do I know.....? ![]()

This bug broke citrix in google-chrome for me.
I downgraded openjdk and it's working again.
Here's what I did to downgrade:
wget http://arm.konnichi.com/2013/06/07/extra/os/x86_64/jre7-openjdk-7.u21_2.3.9-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
pacman -U jre7-openjdk-7.u21_2.3.9-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
wget http://arm.konnichi.com/2013/06/07/extra/os/x86_64/jre7-openjdk-headless-7.u21_2.3.9-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
pacman -U jre7-openjdk-headless-7.u21_2.3.9-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xzOffline
I pushed a fixed icedtea. Next time you guys should search for patches and proper fixes instead of trying to workaround the problems by downgrading. That is not the Arch way.
