How are you powering off... are you using "poweroff" or "halt"?

I poweroff it to press the power button for five seconds.

I don't understand... I think we failed to communicate there.  I'm asking what command do you use when you want to power down the machine.   Do you use the "poweroff" command, or the "halt" command, or "systemctl poweroff", or "shutdown -h now"?

Re: [sovled] acer Aspire V5-122 can't poweroff but reboot OK

I compiled the 3.20.48 kernel. Then it worked ok.
I think that's the new kernel 3.9.xx's problem.
I hope this maybe help for anyone who use linux on Acer Aspire V5-122p computer.

Re: [sovled] acer Aspire V5-122 can't poweroff but reboot OK

That is a pretty old kernel.  Fortunately, it is an LTS kernel, so is not end of life.  It makes me wonder if you have tried the LTS 3.4 kernel.  What is nice about that one is that it is in the AUR, with a nice sane config (the old Arch config I believe), and it is getting some degree of maintenance.

You might also want to try going the other way... that is, pull the package from [testing] which is 3.10.1 and see if that might change anything.
