Removing b43-fwcutter attempts to remove linux

I just installed b43-firmware from AUR (using meat), which brings in b43-fwcutter from the main repos. It didn't suit me, so I tried to remove it. I was then presented with this:

I don't see why pacman should attempt to remove the linux package in this case. Am I missing something?

The output of 'pacman -Qi linux' will tell you that no other package depends on linux, so yeah, you can remove it - pacman doesn't see why not :-)

Modify paman's db if you want the linux package to be 'explicitly installed'.

man pacman

Will tell you how to do that.

Oh, I see why now. Wow, that's a bit unnerving.

Okay, thanks.
