HSFModem driver issues

Guys,

Wondering if someone can help me with installing the hsfmodem (Conexant) drivers for my laptop (Dell Latitude e6410), I need them for work purposes and have been through the AUR build process a few times in different ways.  I've managed to actually install the package, but once this is completed you are supposed to run hsfconfig which loads the modules into the kernel.  I hit a snag with this as it looks for the linux source build directory (which is there) but it complains about not finding a version.h file.  Below is the output from the hsfconfig.

Conexant HSF softmodem driver, version 7.80.02.06x86_64full

If you need license keys, assistance or more information, please go to:
        http://www.linuxant.com/

When reporting a problem for the first time, please send
us the file generated by "hsfconfig --dumpdiag".
modprobe: invalid option -- 'l'
modprobe: invalid option -- 'l'

No pre-built modules for: unknown-unknown linux-3.9.9-1-ARCH x86_64-SMP

Trying to automatically build the driver modules...
(this requires a C compiler and proper kernel sources to be installed)

Where is the linux source build directory that matches your running kernel?
[/lib/modules/3.9.9-1-ARCH/build]

WARNING: missing file /lib/modules/3.9.9-1-ARCH/build/include/linux/version.h
The cause of this is usually a missing or unconfigured
kernel source tree (and sometimes an incorrect directory or symbolic link).

First, ensure that the proper kernel source and compiler packages
from your distribution vendor and/or the community are installed.

The Linux kernel can then be reconfigured by running "make menuconfig"
under the kernel source directory (usually /usr/src/linux).

Verify that the proper options for your system are selected.

Then compile and install your new kernel (for more information about
this procedure, see the README file under the kernel source directory),
reboot the system using the new kernel, and re-run "hsfconfig".

Any help is appreciated.

Dave

Re: HSFModem driver issues

This is going to be a slightly annoying post, so I apologize in advance.

Basically those Linuxant drivers won't build against any kernel since the early 3.x series. That's the bad news.

The good news is that support for the modem may be available in the kernel. I have a Zoom modem with a Conexant chipset and that is the case for me. You may wish to read the below thread:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … 175503833/

I'm afraid I can't be of more help because I can't find the damned modem (which is definitely annoying). I've been looking since I saw you're post but no luck. If I find it, I'll see what I can do for you. Sorry about that.
