Hey folks,
I am having trouble properly setting up my S205's internal microphone. Skype setup using my internal microphone is not possibe aswell, because I don't hear any clear input (besides some noise). The internal microhone's level is "flickering" in pavucontrol and the standard gnome settings overview for audio, I don't know how else I could describe it. Best see here and here. These screenshots were taken in silent suddoundings. You can imagine the level "bars" moving very fast between 0% to 100% with no recognizable pattern. Sound output on the other hand is working perfectly well.
Regarding arecord it is a Conexant CX20590 Analog device, see here. You can there aswell see the snd*-Modules loaded on my system.
At first I was wondering if snd_hda_intel maybe was a conflicting module (because I thought I didn't have any Intel HDA sound device in my system) and tried blacklisting it, but this resulted in no more sound (either input or output). So I figured out that lspci | grep Audio lists some Intel HDA device:
lspci | grep Audio
00:01.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Wrestler HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 6250/6310]
00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40)So I loaded the snd_hda_intel again and rebootet. Blacklisting snd_hda_codec_conexant didn't have any consequences whatsoever (working sound output, non-working input).
Using arecord for a test record works though. Additionally, I followed this thread to change the default bit rate to 96000. Following this I made a test record again (arecord) and it worked well, I could hear me very well.
So, why is the level bar flickering and Skype not correctly recognizing the internal microphone? (I at least assume there is some connection between the unconstant microphone level and bad input in Skype.)
lib32-libpulse, lib32-alsa-plugins and pulseaudio-alsa are installed.
