Hibernation causes corrupted display on Thinkpad SL510

When I put my laptop into hibernation, the display would go blank for circa one second, then it gets corrupted - a sharp, colored pattern tiling over the whole the display - I can upload a photo if someone is interested in the exact appearance.

As soon as the kernel resumes from the hibernation, the display would go back to corrupted state - even if I switch to tty by Ctrl-Alt-F1. The pattern is slightly different, however; the location of the mouse can be recognized as a big rectangle area with higher brightness than the background. I can verify that everything else except for video works; I can blind type Alt-F2, "sudo reboot" and my box reboots. Thus this issue should be related to kernel rather than X.

Info about the video card:

mortbauer,  Be advised that that post is one and a half years old.  You may not get an answer.  As there was no real content in the original post, I will leave this open.  We generally discourage old posts because things change so fast; what was relevant to one driver or kernel will not be relevant to the next.

Yes sure, but as I had/have the exactly same problem and found more of these in the ubuntu forums and other places it seems that the behaviour hasn't changed at all on this topic. Still thanks for the advice.

You might try installing pm-utils which includes pm-quirks.
