Re: [new] Powernowd

very easy, just downloaded the tar.gz package, extracted it, run makepgk -i, and added powernowd to rc.conf. It works great, and seems to control the cpu better than in Windows, the fan is much quieter now, but still with temperatures less than 50 degrees, so everything works like a charm

Yep it's all cowpiled in. I,w not sure how to post my kernes config or I would. Basically the governors etc were compiled in, and the gpu-specific modules were modules.

But, when I try to insert powernow-k7

[root@suzy thomas]# modprobe powernow-k7
FATAL: Error inserting powernow_k7 (/lib/modules/2.6.11-ck9-ARCH/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/powernow-k7.ko): No such device

I'm not using the stock kernel of course, but that shouldn't matter should it?

I have an Athlon XP 2000+ btw.

if you don't have the powernow module in your kernel it wont work, but i got that problem WITH the module.
it turned out my shuttle's (95G5B v1) firmware was buggy.
I updated the firmware using winflash and the powernow module works correctly.

perhaps updating your bios will work
