system boot failure after update to 3.10.2.1 , also 3.10.3.1

after initial screen with hw detection, screen went black and then no signal from
graphic card.
No ping from other pc so network did not start either.

1st I suspected ssd drive died or lost data.

Problem was radeon.audio=1 kernel option which worked well until 3.10.2.1 ( to enable sound over ati hdmi )
Option removed, system boots ok.

Now I have to find out,  how to get back
radeon  (HD4850) sound over hdmi.
