ftp.mfa.kfki.hu mirror seems to be down

For a few days now whenever I run pacman -Syu I get this

When I try to ping ftp.mfa.kfki.hu

PING ftp.mfa.kfki.hu (148.6.72.20) 56(84) bytes of data.

Is the server down, or am I doing something wrong? If the server is down, is it permanent?

Re: ftp.mfa.kfki.hu mirror seems to be down

You can always check the status of mirrors on this page:

https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/

As can be seen from the "Mirror Syncing Error Log" section, your mirror is indeed giving problems.

Maybe it's temporary, maybe it's permanent. In either case, the forums are not the right place to find out the answer. You should contact the mirror admin directly.

You might find reflector useful for identifying the best mirror(s) to use from your location.

Note that this connection time is from the location of the Arch server; your geography may product different results.

Because of this, I generally use reflector from time to time to generate a list of good quality mirrors.  But then I use rankmirrors to sort them by speed based on my location rather than the location of the Arch server.  Though I don't do this very often.

Why not use reflector to sort them by speed? Does rankmirrors do better?
