Hi!
After i rebooted my pc today (3 days since last upgrade without reboot) i noticed that compton wouldn't start normaly... The screen looked kind off wierd...
Anyways.. Here is the terminal output:
[ 0.12 ] error 8 (BadMatch) request 153 minor 22 serial 397 ("BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)")
[ 0.12 ] error 9 (BadDrawable) request 154 minor 4 serial 398 ("BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)")
[ 0.12 ] error 172 (Unknown) request 153 minor 16 serial 0 ("GLXBadPixmap")
[ 0.12 ] error 8 (BadMatch) request 153 minor 22 serial 419 ("BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)")
[ 0.12 ] error 9 (BadDrawable) request 154 minor 4 serial 420 ("BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)")
[ 0.12 ] error 172 (Unknown) request 153 minor 16 serial 0 ("GLXBadPixmap")
[ 0.13 ] error 8 (BadMatch) request 153 minor 22 serial 441 ("BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)")
[ 0.13 ] error 9 (BadDrawable) request 154 minor 4 serial 442 ("BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)")
[ 0.13 ] error 172 (Unknown) request 153 minor 16 serial 0 ("GLXBadPixmap")So is ther anything i can do to fix this? Do anyone have a neat workaround for either comton or a compositor to remove the tearing?
Thanks in advance for answers!!
I'll provide everything you'll need to help if anyone need something more info to help
//Edit:
I also just upgraded to the newest nvidia drivers cause of the new kernel and so on,...

I have the same issue. Not sure if you use nVidia, but it might be the upgrade to 325 which is causing the issue. I accidentally did a pacman -Scc and also I'm lazy, so haven't downgraded to verify this. In the meantime, I removed --backend glx from my compton command and that restored my display to normal.

I had problems too after the upgrade of the kernel, nvidia and grub 2.0, i lost all yesterday afternoon trying to figure it out which was the problem and how to fix it. At the end the problem was just compton-git. Just reinstalling it to resolve (It will install the LATEST GIT).
I have no tearing with compton, but maybe it's related to my video card (Nvidia GT 460), howewer that's my compton config:

# Specify the backend to use: xrender` or 'glx. GLX (OpenGL) backend generally has much superior performance as far as you have a graphic card/chip and driver
backend = "glx";
# Use EWMH _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW to determine currently focused window, rather than listening to FocusIn/FocusOut event. Might have more accuracy, provided that the WM supports it. Experimental
# use-ewmh-active-win = false;
# Specify refresh rate of the screen. If not specified or 0, compton will try detecting this with X RandR extension
refresh-rate = 0;
# Set VSync method to opengl-swc. Try to VSync with SGI_swap_control OpenGL extension. Only work on some drivers. Works only with GLX backend. Known to be most effective on many drivers
vsync = "opengl-swc";
# Painting on X Composite overlay window instead of on root window
paint-on-overlay = true;
# Limit compton to repaint at most once every 1 / refresh_rate second to boost performance. Experimental. This should not be used with --vsync as --vsync essentially does --sw-opti's job already, unless you wish to specify a lower refresh rate than the actual value
sw-opti = false;
#Unredirect all windows if a full-screen opaque window is detected, to maximize performance for full-screen windows. Known to cause flickering when redirecting/unredirecting windows. --paint-on-overlay may make the flickering less obvious. Experimental

# Use WM_CLIENT_LEADER to group windows, and consider windows in the same group focused at the same time. WM_TRANSIENT_FOR has higher priority if --detect-transient is enabled, too
# detect-client-leader = true;
# Specify a list of conditions of windows that should be painted with inverted color. Resource-hogging, and is not well tested
# invert-color-include = [ ];
## GLX backend
# GLX backend: Avoid using stencil buffer, useful if you don’t have a stencil buffer. Might cause incorrect opacity when rendering transparent content and cannot work with --blur-background. My tests show a 15% performance boost
glx-no-stencil = true;
# GLX backend: Copy unmodified regions from front buffer instead of redrawing them all. My tests with nvidia-drivers show a 10% decrease in performance when the whole screen is modified, but a 20% increase when only 1/4 is. My tests on nouveau show terrible slowdown
# glx-copy-from-front = false;
# GLX backend: Use MESA_copy_sub_buffer to do partial screen update. My tests on nouveau shows a 200% performance boost when only 1/4 of the screen is updated. May break VSync and is not available on some drivers. Overrides --glx-copy-from-front
# glx-use-copysubbuffermesa = false;
# GLX backend: Avoid rebinding pixmap on window damage. Probably could improve performance on rapid window content changes, but is known to break things on some drivers (LLVMpipe)
glx-no-rebind-pixmap = true;
# GLX backend: GLX buffer swap method we assume. Could be undefined (0), copy (1), exchange (2), 3-6, or buffer-age (-1). undefined is the slowest and the safest, and the default value. copy is fastest, but may fail on some drivers, 2-6 are gradually slower but safer (6 is still faster than 0). Usually, double buffer means 2, triple buffer means 3. buffer-age means auto-detect using GLX_EXT_buffer_age, supported by some drivers. Useless with --glx-use-copysubbuffermesa. Partially breaks --resize-damage. Defaults to undefined
glx-swap-method = "undefined";
## Window type settings
wintypes:
{
tooltip = { fade = true; shadow = false; opacity = 0; };
};Obviously you have to load the configuration through compton... something like
compton --config ~/.config/compton/compton.conf -b &
(This is actually my autostart line in my /home/user/.xinitrc file)
Hope it help
