Kernel panic still! Need major help!

AHHHH! I've changed my grub to boot from the udev scheme, I have windows on 10g and then 222mb for swap space, and then Arch with 30g. I can't boot anymore, and I'm normally able to just switch the naming and it loads right up, but nothing I'm doing is working. PLEASE I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS!

Re: Kernel panic still! Need major help!

What message do you get when the boot fails? Is it "Kernel panic: cannot sync (blah blah blah)", or something else?

Re: Kernel panic still! Need major help!

If I was you I would probably already be asking these questions on Vector's or Frugalware's site.

You can get help really fast on this site if you provide details regarding the problem you are having.  If you just say I'm having a problem don't expect much (on this site or any other site).

What did your menu.lst look like before and what does it look like now?  Is this an issue with a kernel upgrade?  etc.

This is the best distro I have ever used but people do tend to jump all over you.  I just change my forum ID once in a while to get a fresh start.

Re: Kernel panic still! Need major help!

at first, you have to check, if udev is installed:

pacman -Qi udev

if not, get it by pacman -S udev... then

as root, type into a commandline:
/sbin/migrate-udev

when you changed the naming scheme in your menu.lst, booting should work...

you can do all this by booting into your arch-system with the install cd and chrooting your /

greets,

hellwoofa

migrate-udev
