Hi,
After upgrading to the latest version of Tilda, I get a grey blank screen instead of the console when opening it.
Downgrading solves the problem (of course). I tried using it with and without xcompmgr and on different computers (nvidia drivers and intel video drivers) and have the same issue.
Apparently some people had similar trouble six years ago (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/144175), but their solution (disabling animated pulldown) does not work.
Cheers.

Hi,
I have the same problem, fresh configuration, tried all the workarounds, nothing seems to work.
Offline
Delete the ~/.config/tilda directory, than run tilda and disable the “Start Tilda hidden” option, if you don't mind hiding it every time it starts.

Works like a charm. Thanks!
Actually, I was a bit too optimistic. The console appears at the beginning but becomes grey short thereafter (by example by issuing ^c). It seems that opening another terminal (not tilda) sometimes gets the console back for a while (?!).

Instead of deleting config, you can run 'tilda -C' to get to the start hidden option
Thanks though, workaround until they get it fixed hopefully soon

I'll try to be bit more specific about quasi-random "return to blank grey" behavior.
Here is a strange example:
1) I start tilda, the console is fine.
2) I switch to chromium, then bring back the console and hit ^c, it becomes grey.
3) I switch to a terminal then bring back the console it is back to normal.
I can repeat steps 2-3 with the same effects.

Then I don't know. Which WM/DE do you use? I use Xfce with compositing enabled. Here is my ~/.config/tilda/config_0, try if you get the error with this configuration. Maybe we’ll manage to find another buggy option.

I use mate with openbox.
I tried your config that seems to work well. Disactivating animated pulldown brings back the buggy grey thing.
From a default config, I confirm that the bug disappears when I activate the animated pulldown (I ~hate~ animations
).

As a workaround, you can set the animation’s delay to 1 µs, which is too fast to see.

I already did that. Unfortunately I can see the console blinking when pulling down terminal ![]()
Thanks for your help.

I also have same problem, tried everying and not working. Another problem is wrong tab arrange from right to left (a new tab appears on most left side).
Solution: install tilda-git from AUR.
Offline
not working for me:
tilda-git in aur seems broken. By using the lanoxx repo and without the patch I was able to compile it but I also get an gray screen when initial hide is enabled.

For me everything works after unchecking "start tilda hidden" option - that will be a little PITA, so I hope they will fix this soon. Also, It seems I can't change font size anymore. That, I must say, is a disaster! Tilda was one of the best drop-down terminals...

I just delete configuration files, enabled the animated pulldown, quit tilda
start tilda again, disabled animated pulldown and problem is gone.

I had experienced the grey screen issue a few times with the previous version, so I don't think it is a new issue. After updating, however, I could not get Tilda to show up at all - no grey screen, just the current window loses focus. Occasionally there was a light grey bar at the top of the screen, the same height as a title bar, but I could not figure out any way to consistently cause this to happen.
For me, running
tilda -Cand unchecking the "Start Tilda hidden" option works for now - the console appears as expected. The downside is that it comes up as soon as you start Tilda, which is a little annoying.

Fixed in 1.1.7-3.

It might work for others, but I am still experiencing problems with 1.1.7-3.
"tilda-git" from aur works fine.

Problem persists for me with 1.1.7-3 and "tilda-git" exits with following error
tilda
Unable to launch default shell: /bin/bash

Hello,
still have the same problem. Tilda opens with blank screen and no reaction on key press. When I start tilda from xterm it says: "WARNING: Window manager (unknown) does not support EWMH hits.". Btw, i use dwm as window manager.
Tried to reinstall tilda, remove configuration - it didn't help.
What can i try also?
ps. Sorry for my english ![]()

Reci: I do not have a line containing devpts in my fstab. Thus I guess the problem is different for me.
