Please elaborate this too.

Best way to explain it is by watching a video.

The biggest problem with the floating layer in XMonad is that it doesn't raise windows when you focus them.   You have to alt-click to raise the window, instead of having it follow your alt-click.

The only thing missing is per-workspace rules, but I haven't had a problem with that yet. All the tiles are also resizeable with the mouse, which is not at all necessary but a nice feature.

I just got my monitor plugged into BSPWM too, and it handles desktops a little differently than xmonad.  Every monitor is assigned a number of desktops, rather then having the desktops cycle through monitors.  I find this nicer because I use my laptop screen and my monitor, and when I cycled a desktop to my laptop monitor, the sizing was all off due to different resolutions.  This window manager rules. I recommend giving it a spin

Re: August 2013 Screenshots thread

I've decided to take the bait and use this as my first primary timing wm (along with stealing most of your configs tongue ) one thing I don't understand about the video is what appears to be "double preselection". At certain parts in the video, the green frame which appears to be targeting a future split is adjusted in size before the split is made but, as far as I can tell, in the same position. Is this targeting different parts of the binary tree or resizing the split?

Thrilling, you can really see the 'bsp' in bspwm.

Also I love how you can even resize gaps.

I'll definitely try. big_smile

I'll share configs if wanted. Eventually I'll update http://github.com/iv597.com/dotz with the new stuff (I no longer use the desktop that repo has configs from) but for now... >.>

And if you're curious what I'm up to, on the right is some dusty old JS I duct-taped together in a rush session a few months ago that solved the problem at hand. On the left is my non-rushed gradual rewrite in LiveScript tongue

What's the wallpaper you're using?

I know that the question wasn't for me but I must ask... Pantheon on Arch? I'm too using Xfce with Plank and Gala. Wingpanel doesn't show any installed indicator, so I can't use it.

Re: August 2013 Screenshots thread

I'm not sure how it works on Arch at the moment, but if I'm not mistaken it did run in the past.

dwm, bstack, terminus, attachaside, no bar. Been pretty stable on this configuration for ~1 year now, I find it helps my working environment and focus a lot. Config is on my GitHub: https://github.com/cdown/dwm

The bottom panel auto-hides. I'm not really happy with the icons not being centred, though. hmm
