I have run the installation process at least 5 times, following the instructions on the site as well as looking through the forum for any similar issues. Currently, I am able to run the Arch Live CD off my USB stick. I can partition my drive and setup the filesystem. I can ping "www.google.com" as well as use ELinks to search the web. (I am using a ethernet connection.) I can mount my partitions on the "/mnt" directory.
When I run "pacstrap /mnt base", the computer displays Core database update. However, when it gets to the Extra database update, it hangs and times out. When I run a ping after interrupting the process to check other servers, I unable to ping "www.google.com" as I did a few moments earlier. However, when I reboot, I am able to re-establish a link to "www.google.com" through the ping.
I am not sure what else I can do. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this perhaps a DNS issue? What do you have in your /etc/resolv.conf file? See this topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1242340

When I start up, I have:
nameserver 10.0.0.2
After reading a few posts on here, I changed it to:
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
Then I use the pacstrap script, but I still get the same issue.
