Hello,
A few months ago I was not able to use mplayer2 anymore, because my computer would "randomly" go down while watching a video.
What I mean by that is that the screen goes black, the sound is gone, the keyboard is not reactive (no more caps lock led) and my only choice is a hard reset..
A few weeks ago, I tried simply using libass with Mplayer but go the same issue.
I then thought the issue lied in the libass version we have in Arch, but I get the exact same issue with mpv built from aur, which pulls libass-git...
The issue does not happen after the same amount of time, it is fairly random... but never happened with mplayer and no libass...
Anyone else has the same issue? or some idea? thanks!

Have you tried Alt-Ctlr-F1 / F2? What about REISUB https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … uts#Kernel ?
What's in the logs?
Is your system up to date?

Alt-Ctr-Fx is dead.
I haven't tried the syskeys good point, as for logs, I haven't looked into any. Which one do you think I should?
And my system is up to date on [Testing], but I have had this issue for a while now...

Since the move to systemd, our logs are all centralized in the systemd journal.

I don't seem to be getting this issue since I started using vdpau so I'm not really sure what happened... but as long as it works... ![]()
