RAID Questions

So I just set up my first RAID 0 configuration today using 2 250GB hard drives.  The RAID configuration involves 2 partition - 1 for Windows 7, the other for some linux-exclusive stuff (I use a 64GB SSD to boot from Linux).  However, when running "dmraid -tay", I thought the result was a little confusing:

Are the partitions supposed to be linear?  I thought they were supposed to be striped.  I would like to point out that the first partition was cloned from a single HDD using dd, however, the 2nd partition wasn't.  If I copy a large amount of data of random sizes to a RAM disk, I get transfer rates between 40-85MB/s.  While that does seem pretty high for a mechanical HDD, these drives are new and I've never tested them individually.

Also, while I'm not doing setting everything up yet, I'm encountering some difficulty with getting the 2nd partition to automatically mount at boot.  Any suggestions?  I'm surprised about how little (modern) info there is on configuring RAID setups that aren't fakeraid.
