Audigy gameport /analog joystick problems

Hi all,
I have an audigy soundcard. I recently bought a quickshot cheepy analog joystick.
I have loaded the following modules as recommended by Judd.

analog                 11168  0
joydev                  8768  0
ns558                   4996  0
emu10k1_gp              3072  0
gameport               12424  4 analog,ns558,emu10k1_gp

And my joystick is plugged in yet i have no /dev/js0 or /dev/input/js0 .

If i dmesg i get this

gameport: EMU10K1 is pci0000:02:0c.1/gameport0, io 0xdff0, speed 1028kHz

I've tried loading the drivers before the sound ones and after but still no /dev files.

Can anybody else help me please ?

Oh im using the latest 2.6 kernel untouched.

Re: Audigy gameport /analog joystick problems

the order of the loaded modules is important. also, i have a sb live, and i don't need the ns558 module.

load them in this order: emu10k1-gp, analog, joydev.
that should do it.

Re: Audigy gameport /analog joystick problems

well...

is the emu10k1-gp driver correct for the audigy? run hwdetect --show-other ... is that module listed there?

it may somehow be possible that the analog driver is not recognizing your joystick. i was unable to find specific instructions for your joystick in the kernel joystick driver documentation, so i would presume analog is the one you need, but one can not be sure.

unfortunately, hwdetect doesn't seem to detect joystick drivers. maybe it should!

Re: Audigy gameport /analog joystick problems

The emu10k1-gp module is a correct choice. I have same problems with joystick on an audigy card, sometimes it does, most times it does not work. If hwdetect could do the job, that would be great.
