Deluge does not install python2-gobject2 with it, which it requires. I bet people are confused when they try to start Deluge and nothing comes up.
EDIT: It also doesn't install pygtk, which it also requires.

Running 'deluge-console' seems to work (even w/o python2-gobject2).

You're wrong, it doesn't require either. The GTK GUI does require them, which is why pygtk is already an optional dependency.
