Hello,
I have a Sony VAIO fit 14", which includes a BCM43142 card. I successfully installed the driver, but I have a really bad signal. If I'm about 3m from the router direct sight everything is ok. 72Mbit, which seems to be the maximum of the card. However, if I get away from the router increasing the distance to 5m, with some obstacles (walls, etc). then the signal drops to 19Mbit or even 5Mbit. The problem also happens in Windows 7.
I've checked and a lot of people is complaining about Sony Vaio Fit WIFI connection, but it is unclear whether the problem resides on the HW, SW or device disposition. I've called Sony Customer Care service, and they told me it is a SW problem with the controller, and sent me a Windows 8 controller :S. The problem is that the first thing I did on my computer was removing windows 8, as my computer has a 128GB SSD disk, and W8 was taking most of the space.
Now, before uninstalling Arch I'd love to know whether other BCM43142 owners are having the same problem (that would mean that the SW problem could be the cause), or they don't, in which case I would blame a faulty card.
I hope any of you can tell me more about this.
Regards,
Alejandro
