libc segfault

Hi,

I updated with -Syu yesterday which pulled in new glibc, kde and a couple of other things.
But whenever I login, plasma-desktop crashes with a segfault and I get something like this in dmesg -

plasma-desktop[647]: segfault at 6b ip b5fd6866 sp bfc62f44 error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b5f55000+1a8000]

But when I restart it manually using Alt+F2, it works fine infinitely.

What could be the problem?

Re: libc segfault

Are you using i686 by any chance? If so, it is a bug, I think. Search the forums - there are a couple of work arounds which seem to have worked for different people.

EDIT: e.g. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=168533 (there's a longer thread somewhere which is messier but has more suggestions).

Yeah, I'm using i686. From day one I have had issues with i686. Regretting the decision over x86_64 which I did for reducing RAM usage sad
Can you link me the fixes?

Thanks a lot for that. The sleep one worked for me.
But it's funny that the same thing works without a problem on 64 bit.
