EDIT: Netctl systray menu - Cinnamon applet (now in AUR)

Update: The applet now allows profile switching. See http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/153

I couldnt find an applet to display network status on my status bar (wifiz didnt work for me). Netctl Status displays netctl status in the system tray. The tooltip provides more info - hover near the icon.
It is inspired by a netctl gnome-shell extension written by Tjaart van der Walt, and uses a bit of code from there.

This applet depends on the following:
1. ip
2. iwconfig
3. wpa_cli

Download from here: http://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/152
AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cinn … tray-menu/

I am not a developer, but feedback is welcome. If you think this is wasteful of resources, please do let me know what can be done.
I have tested this only with wired and wpa-protected networks. Not sure if it will work with open or WEP networks.

Re: EDIT: Netctl systray menu - Cinnamon applet (now in AUR)

This is neat… although I don't use cinnamon.  But the pictures are quite nice and really fit into the rest of the cinnamon look of things.  From an aesthetic point of view with absolutely no testing, well done.

I am commenting here because I really do think this is a nice looking "applet", and I think you deserve some other eyes on this thread.

Edit: Do all cinnamon applets have to be installed via that site linked to in the first post?  Maybe it might be good if you created an AUR package for this… or would that be overkill?  I just know that quite a lot of the gnome stuff can be installed on a system wide level and controlled by pacman (which I think is nice).

Hey,

is there a way to  change the icon size? It's a way to small compared to my other icons in my bar (I activated automatic scaling)
