Hi, I'm having a strange issue where there is a random chance that when I log in, my resolution will be set to 640x480. When looking at my xorg log, I found that whenever this occurs, I have this line in the log:
[ 508.560] (WW) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Unable to read EDID for display device CRT-0
It seems to happen comletely randomly roughly 50% of the time when I run startx. It can happen when I exit X and starting it again, and it can also be fixed like that.
Here are my xorg.log files (the one on the left is from when I don't have the issue, and the one on the right is from when the issue occurs): http://diffchecker.com/9jgvlwzj
I am running 64 bit arch and I am using an nvidia gtx 660TI with proprietary nvidia drivers. My monitor is an LG flatron (LCD).
Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening, and how I could possibly fix it?

What is the resolution supposed to be?
Edit: If it is a common resolution, you can specify your own EDID, and the kernel's docs actually provide a few. Install the linux-docs package and then check out the /usr/src/linux-$(uname -r)/Documentation/EDID directory. There is a howto in there and everything.

Try a different cable.
Thank you WonderWoofy, that was exactly what I was looking for!
