Embedded Silent Boot

I am trying to achieve a silent boot on a atom-based embedded system, I have silenced pretty much everything after following the guides on the arch site:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Silent_boot

I am using GPT partition and syslinux bootloader.

But I am still left with the following at initial boot which I seem unable to silence:

early console in decompress_kernel
Decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF...
Booting the kernel
/dev/sda1: clean....

Thereafter everything is silent, including the auto login and startup of X

Any suggestions on how I can completely silence this ?? - a solution that just shows a splash screen would be the best solution, but failing that a blank screen would be OK.

I have tried installing Plymouth, but that seems a bit bloated, and although I succeeded in installing it and setting up the hooks, it never displayed any boot images.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks
