A good and a bad reply:
the good: this is fixed in -git.
the bad: flac 1.3 does not work in -git

What sollution do you propose, which does not involved replacing rubyripper?

write all tags by hand and dont use any special characters. after ripping fix your tags with e.g. picard.

I know when I installed rubyripper I had to install an extra library something like ruby-gtk2 or something. Also about the flac issue I ripped an album no problem. I would suggest you check your dependencies, might be as simple as missing a codec or something and rubyripper just fails as it can't find it.
Also if you don't like git might try AUR seen another post that installed that way solved his issue. Mine was would not start but I use KDE, and the ruby-gtk2 dependency solved my issue.

Also about the flac issue I ripped an album no problem.
That issue only exists in rubyripper-git. and is unfixed for months now. -> https://code.google.com/p/rubyripper/is … ail?id=574
Also the unicode issue IS there. and its fixed in git. At the moment one has to decide: working flac (1.3) OR 100% working unicode. -> https://code.google.com/p/rubyripper/is … ail?id=571
Anyway, there is a patch that possibly fixes the utf8 issues: https://code.google.com/p/rubyripper/is … ail?id=579 *edit* which doesnt work ![]()

Well I tagget two albums now without tags went completely fine with my current version, and I prefer that picard fixes the tags anyway.
Thanks for the help.
