New problem with XMMS

I have had xmms installed and working for about 2 months now on this installation of AL and I've used it almost everyday without any problems until today. I try to start xmms from the command line with "xmms" and it flashes on the screen and disappears and this is what I get in the terminal:

[rberry88@tux rberry88]$ xmms
Gdk-ERROR **: BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)
  serial 12 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0
[rberry88@tux rberry88]$

Any ideas where I should start looking??

EDIT Okay, I narrowed the problem down to Gnome and KDE. XMMS works fine if I log in to XFCE4, ICEWM and Enlightenment. I don't know what the error code means (the "serial 12 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0) part anyways.

The new XMMS is also giving me problems:

GLib-ERROR **: could not allocate -1073744000 bytes
aborting...
Aborted

When i figure out what is wrong, i will try and fix it. Until then i am going to look for a new media player or possibly recompile the xmms 1.2.9pre1

m3blaster has always worked or is it just that it is ncurses that steers people away from it? it has never broken for me it plays oggs, mp3, wav, and can even do someother tasks. you don't even need X or a mouse to use it.

sigh! i guess i won't push it anymore.

it can also make you dinner if you like

it's a great tool doing everything ... maybe in the next release they will have enbedded a small AI, a multiprotocol webserver and maybe a standalone X11 all in mp3blaster --- really cool stuff!! :-)

(my tip: use JuK or Kaffeine in KDE to have nice background music)

To get back to whatah's actual problem... I'm pretty sure it's a bad config.  Get rid of ~/.xmms and try running it again.

Yep, that took care of it, thanks. I wonder what happened happened to it? I haven't done anything but start it and play mp3's pretty much everyday. Maybe some things just happen I guess.
