Best use of secondary 16GB SSD on Thinkpad T430

Hello all,

I'm new to the (Arch) Linux world. I'm running Arch on a Thinkpad T430 which in addition to a 500GB 7200 RPM primary drive, has a 16GB SSD onboard.  I've read the wiki page on Partitioning and read another page cautioning about using an SSD for partitions that have frequent read/write activity.

I'm interested to improve the performance of the laptop, and would like to utilize the SSD to speed things up.

I would be grateful if anyone had suggestions or recommendations on utilizing the 16GB SSD for `/` (maybe 16 gb is not enough?) & `/boot` or `/var`.

Thanks!

I can fit my whole system into 16 GB.
