Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Nope.  But you can probably patch it in if you want.

If you want aufs3 capable kernels, you should look at the linux-pf kernel (I think the zen kernel might also contain both the CK and aufs patchsets as well).

WonderWoofy, thanks mate! The -pf one got to suit me fine. Sad it's not p4 optimized though.

You could make it that way if you use the AUR package…

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

WonderWoofy, yeah, i know. But, you know, that's kind of the whole reason i'm considering giving arch another try: been rolling on gentoo since 2006.1. Kinda sick of compiling things. T_T
Thaodan, who is nous? Could you share a link to a repo or something? smile

Thanks for your responses guys, you are awesome)
The russian community would possibly have me killed already (as i didn't conduct the search thoroughly enough: there is a match for 'aufs' in the 'precompiled kernels' in the wiki of yours - i can see it now, i missed it).

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

The repo has been updated to the 3.11 series now that ck pushed ck1 for 3.11.  Per his blog post, he worked on the suspend issue many have reported.  Can anyone confirm that it is functioning as expected?  Best not to post to this thread, but rather directly to ck's blog[1] with your feedback.

As always, if you do not want to update to the latest release, I continue to host the packages corresponding to previous major version (snapshot) which is 3.10.11-1 in the archive section of repo-ck[2].

@graysky, could you merge the UKSM patch to linux-ck?

Why would graysky merge the UKSM patch into linux-ck.  That would effectively make it a linux-ck-uksm package, wouldn't it?  That is not what is being provided here.  In fact, that package is already in the AUR, though it may need a small amount of love to get it up to date.  So you are free to build it.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi graysky, thanks for your work so far.

After recent update (3.11-1) the ck kernel hangs CPU at boot, leaving no trace or any sort of output to debug the issue. I haven't tried with older version yet.

I run kx version and vanilla kernel from core is running fine, so I'm inclined to blame optimization. Did you changed something in compiling setup, or maybe you are aware of some upstream changes to your compiler that may be relevant?

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=169567

Maybe I should have just posted this here instead of newb corner. I, like Thar, on reboot was left nothing to debug. Powering up from being completely off works but rebooting did not. Switched back to the mainline 3.10 kernel and all seems fine again.(I can issue 'systemctl reboot') My kernel knowledge is embarrassingly low and in that state there didn't seem like I could do anything to debug are track it down more. After hard reboot dmesg looked fine.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but after reading Thar's post I thought I would as well.

Currently getting

error: failed retrieving file 'linux-firmware-20130903-1-any.pkg.tar.xz' from repo-ck.com : The requested URL returned error: 404 Not Found

when trying to upgrade. Did that package move?

The linux-firmware package is in the official repos… not sure why it would be looking in graysky's repo.

In particular linux-firmware 20130903-1 is from the testing repo. Are you using testing IsSuE? Have you tried a different mirror?

@IsSuE - Odd, I regenerated the repo-ck.db.* files.  Please update and verify that you're good.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hi guys, since last update (3.11), I'm getting issues with my graphics card. Looking at the logs I saw that radeon module tries to load a firmware called RV710_smc.bin. Is this a new firmware included on 3.11? thanks

There have many changes and performance improvements for users of the radeon driver, so this might be one of them. Ask over on the radeon thread as they'll probably know.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Likely not related to the ck1 patchset.  Always best to cross check issues with, in this case, the matching ARCH kernel in [testong].

ck-generic 3.11-1 have the same issue as well (CPU "hangs" at boot - no output, no disk activity, PC runs idle).

ck-generic 3.10.11-1 works fine, I assume the same for ck-kx 3.10.11-1 as that was the kernel I was using before.

Vanilla kernel from core works fine, too.

The only thing I can think of that would cause that symptom would be if you complied linux-ck yourself and enabled CONFIG_RCU_USER_QS but since you're using the repo package (which use the ARCH configs and do not use that option), I don't know...  For more, see: http://ck-hack.blogspot.com/2013/09/bfs … 8324967710

If CK doesn't add that little patch to ck1, I will add it to 3.11.1 when it comes out.  Some users may edit their configs to enable that option.

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

Hey, so I've been noticing on Google+ that some people with Ivy-Bridge processors have been recommended to use the Sandy-bridge package with the command cc -c -Q -march=native --help=target | grep march. It seems something is off here...

Re: unofficial linux-ck repo with cpu optimized packages is ONLINE

@clfarron - You can try it.  Worst thing that will happen is it won't boot.  For reference, my ivy i7-3770k reports:

% gcc -c -Q -march=native --help=target | grep march
  -march= corei7-avx
