Tried to upgrade the latest version of Celestia and answered Y to the following:
celestia conflicts with mesa. Remove mesa? [Y/n]
However, it wouldn't install due to the following:
error: this will break the following dependencies:
mesa: is required by qt4
Is there a way round this?

Didn't recently upgrade xorg did you, or maybe kernel? Maybe reinstall video driver or check video group/permissions? Seems strange that a package would find mesa on the system and demand it be removed if the video system is working properly. If you checked opengl is working (one quick way to check other opengl software), then you can type man pacman in terminal to see how to force install or ignore conflicts, etc. Good luck!

The mesa package is deprecated and can even reduce your video performance. I would recommend remove it:
pacman -Rd mesa
and ask the AUR maintainer of qt4 to remove the mesa dependency. It's probably possible as mesa is now included in xorg.

If it is deprecated, why does it want to remove my xorg when i try to remove it?
i'm trying to install the new nvidia drivers. it conflicts with a libgl-dri or something like that, which is required by mesa. i try to remove mesa and it tells me it wants to remove xorg also.
loading.... please wait....

Simply run 'pacman -Rd libgl-dri' and then install nvidia.
