[SOLVED]Wine games slowed since fontconfig update (or wine update)

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but.

My game (OpenBVE) seems to have slowed down either after I installed the infinality-fontconfig bundle or the latest wine (wine-multimedia). The prefix I am running the game from is a 32bit prefix. I have an Intel G41 chipset which handled the game surprisingly well as it is a light weight game anyway. The infinality bundle installed the following:

lib32-fontconfig-infinality-bundle
lib32-freetype2-infinality-bundle
lib32-cairo-infinality-bundle

I notice periodic stutering now and not smooth gameplay like I used to have. I tried uninstalling these and installing the conventional equivalents. Still no luck. I am not sure if it has to do with these packages or with the wine 1.1.7 update.

I have no idea what to test. what configs or files to post.

If anyone can give me ways to troubleshoot this I'd be happy to post the info and work towards a solution.
Thanks for any help, experts! smile

wine ... update

*That* is what to suspect first. Try downgrading wine to 1.6.

Ok thanks. I'll give it a try first and report back.

EDIT: FIxed. Turns out it was some bad BIOS settings. thanks anyway.

You could say which settings were causing the problem, just in case someone else happens to have similar problems and wants to check their settings.
