[solved]Netflix-desktop issues...

Hello

I came back from kubuntu since it was a hell(no suprise) since it had working packages of both netflix and wine-comholio, similar to wine-silverlight, but overall av rather unrealiable and buggy distro.

SO, I installed https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wine-compholio-bin/ and the netflix-desktop application from AUR.

And when I run netflix-desktop, this appears:

The "cat" command always appears when I click yes.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: [solved]Netflix-desktop issues...

First: I have only tried wine-compholio with pipelight-git (which I can only recommend, by the way) and with nothing else. wine-compholio is compiled for ubuntu so there might be any number of issues, but for pipelight-git it worked.

Then, you have "wineboot: command not found". So it doesn't try to use /opt/wine-compholio/bin/wineboot. I don't know how netflix-desktop works internally... But you need to set the path to wine somehow.

Okay, this is one of the unix aspects im most unexperienced on, so some help would be extremely apreciated.

I will try out pipelight-git.

Re: [solved]Netflix-desktop issues...

Or wait, I have installed netflix-desktop now and in /usr/bin/netflix-desktop it is hardcoded:

WINE="/usr/bin/wine";

It's probably enough to change it to

WINE="/opt/wine-compholio/bin/wine";

delete ~/.netflix-desktop if it was already created, and start netflix-desktop again...

In /usr/bin/netflix-desktop, as haagch said.

Re: [solved]Netflix-desktop issues...

I'd actually go ahead and throw in my support for pipelight. I'm running it with wine-silverlight and using netflix happily in dwb. I couldn't be happier (it also runs much much more smoothly).

All the best,

-HG
