[Solved] Time not Syncing correcting between dual-boot setup

Heya Everyone, I have a dual boot setup which I set up according to the Wiki and for some reason the time doesn't display correctly on either OS (Arch / Windows)

What I have done/know so far:

My bio clock is set correct...
I set Arch to use my hwclock as per guide.. (# hwclock --systohc --utc)
I set Windows to use UTC as per registry fix on guide.
I also disabled online synchronization in Windows
I set my timezone to EST (As I am in New York area) in Linux and Windows

timedatectl status gives me:

Local time: Mon 2013-09-16 18:21:45 EST
Universal time: Mon 2013-09-16 23:21:45 UTC
RTC time: Mon 2013-09-16 23:21:45
Timezone: EST (EST, -0500)
NTP enabled: n/a
NTP synchronized: no
RTC in local TZ: no
DST active: n/a

What am I missing why are both my OS's outputting localtime? Why is my localtime off like that?

Any help would be awesome.

Then when I set the time on linux I get this:

Do you have an ntp daemon set up and running?

Did you actually set your system clock to UTC? Go into the BIOS/firmware setup and check the clock there. If it's displaying localtime, you missed that step.

Heya WonderWoofy, I used #systemctl to see what I had running and I didn't see anything that looked like ntp.

Did I check correctly?

Heya Scimmia, I'll go into my BIOs but I don't recall a place in my BIO's asking to specify UTC or not. I have set the BIOS to the correct time. I'll go back in and take an extra careful look.

You say you have the BIOS set to the "correct time". Is that correct UTC time or correct local time. You've told both Arch and Windows that it's set to UTC, so if you have it set to localtime, that's your problem. There's nowhere in the BIOS to specify, you just set to clock.

oooohhhhhhh I think I get what your saying...

I have to set my BIOs time to what UTC time is currently so 5 hours ahead of what time it is now... SO if it's 5 here I have to set my bios to 10? Is that correct?

Funny, I used to live in Portugal so I was in UTC time and never had to consider that..

Current UTC is 04:11, if that's what your BIOS says, you should be fine.

Edit: I do see another problem, though. You have the timezone set to EST, or eastern STANDARD time, which won't take daylight savings into account. You need to change that to US/Eastern. That will only change it an hour, though, so I don't think that's your main problem.

Scimmia, that did the trick !! I never thought to set my BIOs to a time in a different timezone.

When I did so I booted in and was off by an hour because I was in EST so I used: timedatectl set-timezone America/New_York
and now it looks spot on.

I am going to boot into Windows and see how that behaves now.
