I'm getting really low spikes of FPS just randomly. I had this problem with Ubuntu so I moved back to Arch, as I the problem never seemed to happen on Arch, but I am now getting it all the sudden. My graphics card is the nVidia GTX 560 Ti. I currently have the nVidia 304.108 drivers installed.
Here's what I get if I run glxgears:
[tstrayhan@arch ~]$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
13 frames in 5.9 seconds = 2.187 FPS
6 frames in 5.4 seconds = 1.118 FPS
6 frames in 5.3 seconds = 1.125 FPS
5 frames in 5.4 seconds = 0.926 FPS
5 frames in 6.0 seconds = 0.833 FPS
6 frames in 5.9 seconds = 1.017 FPS
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 47 requests (47 known processed) with 0 events remaining.Seems as if there is an error right there. Not sure what it means, maybe somebody knows?
Also, if I reboot the frame rate seems fine for awhile and will randomly start dropping again. Here's what I get right after I reboot, it's exactly what it should be:
[tstrayhan@arch ~]$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
302 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.302 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.014 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.014 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.014 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.013 FPS
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"
after 47 requests (47 known processed) with 0 events remaining.Last edited by tylerstrayhan (2013-09-16 01:59:31)

Why aren't you using the latest driver (325.15)?
This is what it says on the wiki:
For GeForce 8 series and newer [NVC0 and newer] cards, install nvidia package, available in the official repositories.
For GeForce 6/7 series cards [NV40-NVAF], install nvidia-304xx package, available in the official repositories.
For GeForce 5 FX series cards [NV30-NV38], install nvidia-173xx package, available in the AUR.
For GeForce 2/3/4 MX/Ti series cards [NV11 and NV17-NV28], install nvidia-96xx package, available in the AUR. I don't have a 5 FX card. Nor do I have 6/7 but I figured they'd be the closest to the 560, so I installed though. It says the nvidia package is for 8 or newer, so I figured those wouldn't work.
Update: I installed the 325.15 drivers as Andy has said and currently trying them. Will report back if I get anymore random low FPS.

For GeForce 2/3/4 MX/Ti series cards [NV11 and NV17-NV28], install nvidia-96xx package, available in the AUR.I don't have a 5 FX card. Nor do I have 6/7 but I figured they'd be the closest to the 560, so I installed though. It says the nvidia package is for 8 or newer, so I figured those wouldn't work.
Googling for the codenames (e.g. NV40) reveals that those are the old 6000 series, not the new 600 series, but I admit that nvidia graphics card names can get quite confusing.
i'm sorry for my poor english wirting skills…

NVC0 is the GeForce 400 and 500 series cards. And as you have a GTX 560, you should use the 'nvidia' driver in the official repositories. The numbers mentioned in the wiki refer to the older series of cards. 6\7 series would be the 6000 and 7000 series of cards which has not been in production for many years to my knowledge.
For future reference, there is a very good list of the codenames here: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeNames/
