[SOLVED] [GTK3] All entries highlighted in dropdown menus

Affected themes:
Shiki Nouveau, AUR link
(Shiki Colors, deprecated by the above)

What I did:
>Install shiki-nouveau from AUR, contains matching GTK3 and GTK2 themes
>set theme in lxappearance
>opened a GTK3 application, e.g. Sakura or DeaDBeeF

What I expected:
>For the menus to be like in GTK2 applications
gtk2.png

What I got:
>All entries in menus are coloured as if they're the one currently selected by the mouse
gtk3.png

Is this likely to be a problem with something I've done, a problem with GTK3, or a problem with the theme (and therefore an oversight of the creator)? Is there anything I should have known or expected, or any additional information I should give? I'll admit I don't understand a great deal about how GTK3 is supposed to work, but other themes (e.g. Adwaita, elegant_brit_revisited) don't have this problem (though I dislike how they look). Short of using a different theme, is there anything I could do to fix this?

Re: [SOLVED] [GTK3] All entries highlighted in dropdown menus

"NOTE: These themes only work with GNOME/GTK 3.4 and Unico 1.0.2."

Therefore it does not work correctly with GTK 3.8.

Well, I feel stupid for having not found that myself. Thanks, man, guess I'll have to either live with it, change theme, or work out how to fix it myself.

I guess I should mark this as [SOLVED], or [UNSOLVABLE] ?

Well, you've found out the reason behind the problem, so solved makes more sense.

You could always update the theme yourself so that it works until the next GNOME update breaks everything. tongue

Sakura:-
Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Making lemonade from lemons since 2015.

Indeed. I'll look into updating it myself, but otherwise I'm thinking my best bet is to use qt- or gtk2-compiled versions of the few gtk3-dependent applications I use.
