Fan running faster.

Ever since I upgraded this morning, my fan has been running much faster.  There doesn't seem to be anything using much CPU and no matter what I kill the fan just stays at the same speed.  Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this or if it's just a coincidence.  BTW I'm running on a Samsung Series 7.

Thanks,
Kevin Hostelley

Re: Fan running faster.

Anything interesting in the logs? What packages did you update?

Re: Fan running faster.

This happens fairly often with my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite U405-S2826. This is usually when I am running something that is taxing the processor enough to cause it to heat up a lot. So are you using any graphics-heavy DEs? Multiple programs over multiple workspaces? Compiling code? These all cause mine to turn up the fan.

Hope I helped,
Andy

P.S. Have you restarted since the update? That fixes it for me (since it closes all open programs, meaning less CPU power is needed).
P.P.S. When this is annoying me and my laptop really overheats, I remove the battery and put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes tongue . This might be bad for your laptop, but works like a charm for me!
