What programm or script created the directories "fl", "dvd" and "cd" in /mnt? I tried to find out but didn't get it yet.

Well, any program can create those, they're just directories created via mkdir. I'm not sure if "setup" creates those, I do remember having to make the directories for my CD drives by hand.

I've deleted them multiple times, but next time they're back again. Creepy... ;-)

Do you have any programs installed or run any daemon scripts you think may be doing this? Maybe hal is doing it, although it's not supposed to touch /mnt at all, it's territory is /media

what's in your fstab?

It creates them even if they aren't in fstab. They kept getting reinstalled on my box too, but I don't recall which package does it when it gets updated.

I'm using hal and I don't have anything in /mnt but lots in /media. I thought Arch installer created those dirs.

I mount my dvd-rom and floppy to /media/*, e.g.
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
I know these directories in /mnt do no harm, but I found it annoying.

Pacman says, that the specified path belongs to the package "filesystem".
pacman -Ql | grep /mnt/
filesystem /mnt/
filesystem /mnt/cd/
filesystem /mnt/dvd/
filesystem /mnt/fl/

So just remove the filesystem and those annoying /mnt/ folders are gone.
PS: Don't do this!
As is true for most people I know, I've always loved learning. As is also true for most people I know, I always hated school. Why is that?
