[SOLVED] Problem with makepkg/base-devel?

There seems to be a problem with makepkg in the base-devel I just downloaded - it doesn't seem to be extracting the downloaded source tarball, giving messages like the following:

==> Starting build()...
/home/admin/Downloads/.AUR/rosa-media-player/PKGBUILD: line 34: cd: /home/admin/Downloads/.AUR/rosa-media-player/src/rosa-media-player: No such file or directory
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().

(there was also another problem yesterday, in which I couldn't download base-devel at all - IIRC something about a PHP signature...)

Can you provide the full output and the actual command you are using, preferrably in code tags.

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with makepkg/base-devel?

This is how it goes:

gxine $ makepkg -s

==> Checking runtime dependencies...
==> Checking buildtime dependencies...

ln: failed to create symbolic link ‘/home/admin/Downloads/.AUR/gxine/src/gxine-0.5.907.tar.xz’: Operation not permitted
==> Validating source files with md5sums...
    gxine-0.5.907.tar.xz ... Passed
==> Extracting sources...
==> Removing existing pkg/ directory...
==> Starting build()...
/home/admin/Downloads/.AUR/gxine/PKGBUILD: line 21: cd: /home/admin/Downloads/.AUR/gxine/src/gxine-0.5.907: No such file or directory
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
    Aborting...
gxine $

Do you have write permissions on the src directory?

It might have helped to start with the first error.  The problem is the `ln` failure.

Can you post your fstab?

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with makepkg/base-devel?

Aha - this particular drive is in FAT32 (for Windows compatibility).
I just tried to create a link into it and couldn't ... is this not possible with FAT32?? Will it work with NTFS?

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with makepkg/base-devel?

Why will you need PKGBUILDs and related materials on a Windows machine?

NTFS does support symlinks.

Re: [SOLVED] Problem with makepkg/base-devel?

It's dual boot.
OK I'll have to move my AUR folder.
Thanks for the help!
