thunar icons

I installed the basic thunar package from shadowhands repo, but it has not icons, jsut a basic page one. How do I add icons?

Btw, I got arch running big_smile my memory is problematic it seems. The screen garble was caused by nvidia drivers installed over a high res frame buffer, no buffer fixed it.

Re: thunar icons

Pick your GTK icon theme and enjoy.

Re: thunar icons

Yep, XFCE 4.4 can use Gnome icons. No more ugliness!

Re: thunar icons

Maybe you need shared-mime-info, you you have problems with the mime icons.

Re: thunar icons

Since I only have openbox, how do I install them?

Re: thunar icons

mcs-setting-show will give you the Xfce4 settings manager, which will let you set your icon theme.

You can install icons to ~/.icons .

Re: thunar icons

You can also just manually specify the GTK icon theme in ~/.gtkrc-2.0 so that you don't have to install the xfce4 settings manager. I forget the exact syntax (not on my arch box right now) but a quick google search should bring it up.

And yes, install icons to ~/.icons

Re: thunar icons

Sure. And for what it's worth, the line you need in the .gtkrc-2.0 is

gtk-icon-theme-name = "foo"

where foo is the name of the directory of icons under ~/.icons

My entire .gtkrc-2.0 looks like:

include "/usr/share/themes/Clearlooks-Olive/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
style "user-font" {
        font_name = "Verdana 8"
}
widget_class "*" style "user-font"
gtk-font-name="Verdana 8"
gtk-icon-theme-name = "nuoveXT-1.6"

Re: thunar icons

Installing gnome-icon-themes fixed it for me.
