[systemd] kernel panic during boot

hi.

I am experiencing a kernel panic before I have the opportunity to log into my system. As soon as the boot messages finish in tty and the login prompt appears it panics. I think it may have something to do with a systemd update but it did not occur until a few hours after I updated it. My system all of a sudden froze and after a hard reset this problem appeared. I would love to post the kernal panic message but I cant get I to my system at all. I appreciate any suggestions. I don't have a backup of the old systemd either.

Ok it is confirmed that the 207-3 update is the cause of this. i recompiled the 204 version and it works fine. smile Bug report filed.

I have a similar issue. After upgrading to systemd 207, I would see a kernel panic every time I shut down my laptop (not at boot time though). I haven't had the time to really test it, but it seemed that it would only do that only if I used a graphical environment (I have e17).

I downgraded to 204, and everything is fine now.

Not for me, same issue with 208. Can't figure out what is causing the panic though, since the relevant info is not seen in the console. I also tried systemd 208, and downgrading intel-dri, mesa, mesa-libs to 9.1 since it was somehow related to using E17, which uses composite. It didn't make any difference. I also tried downgrading to kernel 3.10, which used to work fine before, but nothing. Still kernel panic during shutdown. The only thing that seems to work is downgrading systemd.

I see that the bug was closed with a comment ""A file on my system was causing the kernel panic". Can you clarify the solution please?
