VLC 2.1 glitches

When starting it from the menu playing a video and closing the app i get.
jJnu3BC.png

It works fine though.

From the command line i get:

$ vlc
VLC media player 2.1.0 Rincewind (revision 2.1.0-0-gedd8835)
[0x134e1f8] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.

[0x7f4c94df16e8] freetype spu text error: Breaking unbreakable line
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-close.c: 771: _dl_close: Assertion `map->l_init_called' failed!

Apart from the message which is annoying is it normal not to have acceleration. I enabled it from the preferences. (tools>prefs>input&codecs>hardware accelerated decoding) hmm

Re: VLC 2.1 glitches

Ive always experienced VLC as a bit inferior on this area, if you really dont need a gui, I would recommend MPV. Sorry if this is not helpful but it is the best help I can offer on the subject.

Use the Source, Luke!

Re: VLC 2.1 glitches

I have filed a bug (FS#37087) concerning that  "main vout display error: Failed to resize display" error.

Do you get anything like the things i describe above?? Video Acceleration? And is anyone with E17 as his DE having similar problems?

Re: VLC 2.1 glitches

I see the 'Fontconfig warning: FcPattern object size does not accept value "0"' - but I think that is probably harmless.  I have a couple of other errors, but they don't overlap with yours and they don't cause any problems.  I can resize the window once vlc has started, so it is just a minor nuisance. I am as sure as I can be, though, that it originates in the current version - I have opened and closed vlc to watch tv several times every day for a couple of years now and have never seen this problem before.

Re: VLC 2.1 glitches

With the latest update i get. Still uses a lot of CPU. (25+ for 1080p)

$ vlc
VLC media player 2.1.0 Rincewind (revision 2.1.0-0-gedd8835)
[0x1eb11f8] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.

[0x7f85a4001248] main vout display error: Failed to resize display

[0x7f85bc000f98] freetype spu text error: Breaking unbreakable line

From asking around it seems that VDPAU still needs work both on the radeon and vlc side.
