I have HP envy dv6 laptop. I've been having sudden random reboots on every kernel > 3.9. I didn't have the time to look into it and just downgraded to 3.9.11. When 3.11 came to core I went with the upgrade hoping that the problem was with 3.10 (hard to believe since this should be the LTS kernel) but the issue remained. As far as I can see it the reboots are completely random both time and functionality being done wise. Do you have any suggestions? Which logs to look into?
EDIT
Some things I forgot to mention which could be of some importance:
* in fstab I added noatime and discard options for every partition (for SSD benefits)
* in grub.cfg I added the elevator=noop to the kernel line as well as acpi_backlight=vendor (the backlight on my laptop is not functioning properly without this)
I don't know if this could be the reason, I doubt it. I only tried removing the backlight option, but this didn't help.
