vlc stops responding to F key to exit fullscreen mode

Since vlc 2.1.0.* came out I've been having a strange issue with vlc.
After watching fullscreen for some time, pressing the F key does NOT resize back to normal size.
Unless I hit the F key a second time.

It seems that F to enable fullscreen always works, but when in fullscreen mode sometimes - the first F keypress is ignored the first time.

This began with vlc-2.1.0-1 and it's the same for vlc-2.1.0-2 and vlc-2.1.0-3

Downgrading to 2.0.8.a-1 restores the normal behaviour.

It's a minor issue but quite irritating.
Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm using KDE 4.11.2
Kernel 3.11.2-1, x86_64
nvidia 325.15-9 (but this happened before the nvidia driver updated)

wrong place to complain. But I am sure the vlc guys would love your input on this tongue
