Open-VM-Tools and Kernel 3.11

Hello,

after I tried to update an old VM I get this error messages:

$ sudo systemctl status vmtoolsd

Unfortunately the wiki does not help me and only says that I should use the LTS Kernel. On the other hand the tools seem to run. Can anyone tell me what this messages mean and how I can solve them?
