sound server error after upgrading / removing hotplug

when i did my last update i got the message

udev conflicts with hotplug

i then answeres yes when i was asked to remove hotplug (and diabled it in rc.conf)
and now i get

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

and the sound isn't working anymore.
