It's been a few months since I haven't been able to connect with empathy to facebook.
After having upgraded my distro to gnome 3.10 I started to search about this issue.
I removed everything in my profile that was looking like "empathy", "telepathy", "gable" and "wocky".
I also removed useless passwords and auth tokens from seahorse.
After a fresh reboot, I'm still unable to connect to facebook.
When I add a new account in GOA, it seems to work, but as soon as wocky tries to connect, it fails.
Here is my telepathy-debugging log : http://pastebin.com/yEYELNQc
(auth token has been voluntary altered)
sasl_status_changed_cb: SASL failed: WOCKY_AUTH_ERROR_FAILURE (#6): Authentication failed: not-authorized
Any insight would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks !

Same issue here...not sure why it fails though.

Also having this issue, just installed gnome, seems to be improving as far as i can see .
This is a very irritating problem. The message integration is a good feature.

AFAIK, FB changed the authentication scheme: http://askubuntu.com/a/339662
I really liked the chat feature (in fact that's the only thing I use FB for - but having to leave a browser window/tab open for that...? meh!)
but I guess we'll have to wait for a fix or use another client (which isn't an option for people like me, who hate using more than one or maybe two different clients).

hi, in Kopete (kde desktop) is the same problem. Actually, if I want use FB chat with other accounts like gtalk, skype, etc, I use finch, is in console mode but is really usefull, works well with FB, or if I want GUI client like kopete I don't use my FB account (I hate to have my browser open to chat ). Is not a solution but is an "alternate" provisory solution

Ok given what Darkcloud said, it seems to be a server side issue.
I guess we have to wait for a nice developer to submit a patch for us
Here is the bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57260
I've added a new comment with more informations.
