gnome 3.10 gnome-settings-daemon segfaults during login

Hello.

Im having this problem on gnome3.10, eventhough it did work ok two days ago:

login with any user (even a new one with no settings cruft) will hunk (sad computer something went wrong blah blah).

checking dmesg, i get:

$ dmesg |grep segfault
[  291.994888] gnome-settings-[950]: segfault at 1 ip b6ccdde8 sp bfea2b8c error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b6c53000+1a9000]
[  293.883994] gnome-settings-[1019]: segfault at 1 ip b6cf1de8 sp bfc6eedc error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b6c77000+1a9000]
[  346.318059] gnome-shell[1013]: segfault at 1 ip b686cde8 sp bfecbcdc error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b67f2000+1a9000]
[  351.895671] gnome-shell[1157]: segfault at 1 ip b680ade8 sp bff8284c error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b6790000+1a9000]

smells like broken hardware. but running another DE works ok (using openbox right now).
coincidentally when this happens, systemd starts acting weird (unresponsive).

i did a pacman -S gnome just to be on the safe side but didnt fix it.

any clues?

Re: gnome 3.10 gnome-settings-daemon segfaults during login

thanks for the reply. but sadly the workarounds proposed didnt help.

i even downgraded glibc to 2.17 and the issue is still there.

im also experiencing some weird effects where systemd locks and dbus cant connect to it (or the other way around?) this happens after a while. not sure if suspending the system has something to do with this. how i miss the old scripted rc days!

Battling with this for two days on intel atom boxen. If you have testing enabled, downgrade pulse / libpulse to 4.02, and downgrade gtk3 as noted in other threads (gnome-shell crash on Activities button).
