TV out for Laptop with GM965

Hello,

I am trying to use an old TV as monitor for an old Laptop with an intel GM965. I cannot connect with the TV at all. Xrandr shows the option TV1, but says it is disconnected, of course it is physically connected... I also have the same trouble as in this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=114767 in comment 3, when I try to set the tv-format:

$ xrandr --output TV1 --set tv-format pal
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
  Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (RRQueryOutputProperty)
  Serial number of failed request: 29
  Current serial number in output stream: 29

The solution in the thread mentioned above was to use an older kernel, but as i can see, this kernel is not available anymore. And at all it seems to be an 2.6.x kernel which I rather not want to use. Do you have any an idea what to do to get it still working with newer kernel? Or is there an option to use an 2.6 kernel, because with 'downgrade' I couldn't get kernel older than 3.0

Thanks
techge

PS: I tried linux-lts 3.10.15-1 and linux 3.11.4-1 i686
