Ironing out pulse/jack relationship

Hi guys. I know I've made some REALLY newbie posts before, and eventually solved the issues myself or with the help of someone on IRC saying "try this".

But I've got an issue now that I've kind of come up blank on. I'm trying to pulse audio to route to jack when jack is running (so far so good, this part is working) and then run independently when jack is off (this part I'm having trouble with). Right now, when jack is off, pulse audio still runs, but I'm not getting sound. The only output pavucontrol is showing is the 'null output' which I'm somewhat certain is not what I'm looking for. The input on/off/volume are is also greyed out.

You'll probably want to see some config files, but I'm not entirely sure which ones, so help me help you help me.
