I'd guess that there is an issue with the S3 (stock kernel?) and libmtp. Maybe I'll file a bug report later.
Have you tried to flash Siyah Kernel for S3

I wonder why banshee/rhythmbox isn't working with my android tablet and I went through the pipeline...
After a while I found that there is no dbus event when I connect my device, so I think banshee is never triggered to check for it.
Could this be a reason and if so, does anybody know how to make udev trigger dbus trigger banshee?
PS: libmtp, jmtpfs working... can mount device via fuse.

Hi SuperBo,
I just installed this kernel on my S3, I have android-udev installed, no device in adb devices.
The interesting point is that I use Intellij idea to program on Android platform. Intellij ALWAYS kill my adb server before trying to install the just compiled apk. And it has always worked even when the adb command in shell doesn't work like now. As soon as I try the adb command without killing the server, it kills itself.
Any idea?

Hi,
I noticed two updates of udev rules AUR package relative to the introduction of Samsung Galaxy S3 (since my previous message), but ADB doesn´t work with my S3...
Any idea?

Are any of you that are having problems using a dock for the phone? Arch won't recognize my S2 if it's docked, but it doesn't have any problems if it's plugged into USB directly.

I have similar issue connecting Desire S (w/ CyanogenMod 10.1) to my notebook.
USB connection is Ok on another laptop with windows, however (using the same cable).
So, you say there is low-level issue, which can't be fixed by anything but flashing another kernel into the phone? I've never heard about anything like "Siyah Kernel" for my device, unfortunately
UPDATE: the phone cannot be connected even in Fastboot mode (USB errors in dmesg). I don't think there is any kernel loaded at this stage...

Mityukov,
I am going to go ahead and close this thread. Much has changed in the last year in both Android and Arch. Please, feel free to start a new thread, and link back to this one if you think it is relevant.
For what it is worth, I use both USB and WiFi Hotspot tethering from my HTC Desire with Cyanogen on my Arch Box all the time. It may just be a problem with device name or DHCP.
