Hi
I´ve upgraded to newest xorg. But it doesn´t work
After changing the path pf the modules, X doesn´t start
I can see a message like
error while loading shared libraries: libXau.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and thast right this file is nowhere on my system.
When commenting out the modules line in xcorg.conf,
X starts, but some keyboard functions do not work.
any idea?
thanks

xorg-server should depend on libxau, but it doesn't, so libxau is not installed. get pacman to install it and you should be OK.

it complains about libX11.so.0.6
Installinb X11 again didn´t help.
I guess i have to get rid off it, cause it is not really usable right now

Bug report - yeah, yeah, it's on the way, Gullible.
mic64 - I expect your libx11 problem was the same as mine i.e. you installed libx11 0.9.9-1 form current, instead of libx11 1.0.0-1 from testing. 0.9.9 is a dummy package with no files in it. Similar packages exist for libxt and libsm, so make sure you've got the testing versions version of those too.
Glad you're working anyway.

Bugs now filed for libxau and the dummy package thing.

FYI anyone - these were not bugs, but predictable problems cause by incorrect use of the testing repo. See here for details (and gentle scolding by Judd and JGC  ).

I've just read the bug report. I think you must have mis-interpreted the comments. Because I saw your forum post before reading the bug report, I was expecting to see some "gentle scolding", but there was none there.
I thought the comments from Judd were really informative. There were smilies in from both Judd and JGC to ensure comments were seen as friendly.

Very true, very true - so I exaggerated a bit. I know they were being friendly, and I appreciate that.
Maybe I need to brush up on my own smilie-usage skills.........:P
